Are you struggling to get leads for your online coaching, consulting, or other service-based business?

Niche marketing is a great way to solve your problem!

Niching your services is a marketing strategy in which you target your business to serve one specific type of client and/or provide one type of service to your clients.

For example, you might decide you only want to provide bookkeeping services to dentists. Or, you might decide to only work with clients using QuickBooks Online. Even better yet...niche to serve only dentists using QuickBooks Online!

Why niche marketing works:

  • It enables you to scale your business beyond your limited time and energy.
  • It provides you with a clear marketing message.
  • It allows you to create a standardized system to serve your clients.
  • And it differentiates you from competition as the expert.

Here are 5 sure ways to nail your niche market:

1. Shift your mindset.

Many people resist the suggestion to niche. However, keep in mind, your niche is not the only clients you are allowed to serve. You can still take on other clients if you want. Also, consider how many people are in your niche! If you got even 1% of them as clients, wouldn’t that be great?

2. Think about who you can serve at your highest level.

  1. What problems do you solve for your clients?
  2. Who do you enjoy working with the most?
  3. What work gives you the greatest satisfaction?

3. Describe some possible niche market choices.

  • What are their demographics?
  • What are their buying habits?
  • What is keeping them up at night?

4. Write the pros and cons of working with each type of client:

  • Do they have any money to spend on your services?
  • Do your services solve their problems?
  • How committed are they to solving their problems?

5. Pick one niche.

Be flexible, then consistent. Start with one niche and change your niche if it’s not feeling right or working for you. When you finally land on one that feels right to you, build it out for an entire year. Later, you can build processes to serve another niche market, but focus on one at a time until you get that one running well.

I know this is scary because it can feel like we are excluding so many sales opportunities, but we don’t attract leads with “everyone” language. We must speak to our potential clients’ pain points and have a specific solution for them. Then, they will know we are talking to them and look our way so we get the opportunity to sell to them.

It’s not how many fish are in the river, it’s how many of them are nibbling our hook, that matters!  Niche marketing is the perfect bait to catch the “fish” we want to help with our business services.
