As a business owner, it can feel like our minds are in a continuous loop of idea-generating, problem-solving, and decision-making that is difficult to turn off and get a good night's sleep. We are also frequently fighting off negative self-talk, doubt, and fear.

I have been an entrepreneur for 20 years and have used just about every mindset trick and tip I could find to manage all of these thoughts while bolstering my productivity, positivity, and resilience. I do things like state affirmations, visualize my success, and keep a gratitude journal.

Here are 5 more daily mindset habits which have also helped me with my overall life balance to prevent burnout and support my mental, physical, and emotional health. They can help you do the same!

After all, as business owners, we need long-term stamina and strength on our Fearless Climb to the summit of success!

1. Find your rhythm!

I have never been a morning person. I discovered that if I scheduled my first appointment of the day for 10am, I was much more rested and less stressed. I still wake up early, but I don't have to jump in the shower and rush around to get ready. I also now meditate, and sometimes take a short nap, in the late afternoon. And then I work for as long as I want at night after my family has gone to bed. I live at a pace that honors my body's natural rhythm. Of course, when my kids were little, I had morning responsibilities for them, so this hasn't always been possible. But as the kids and I got older, I realized one of the perks of being a business owner is the freedom to work on my own schedule. When I first started doing this, I felt guilty I wasn't working a standard 8-5 schedule. I felt the need to explain to my husband I was working hard...just not at the same time he was at his office job. I didn't realize how much I needed this for my happiness and for my creativity until I gave myself permission to try it. I encourage you to find your own rhythm and make it part of your daily mindset habit to honor your mental, emotional, and physical health.

2. Clear your head!

When my thoughts are spinning out of control with the normal, small business owner type of worry and anxiety, I have discovered it is imperative to clear my head with a shift of some kind. Often, this is a physical shift. I go for a walk or, if I don't have time for that, I will just stand on the porch. I keep my phone off and I go out alone. I breathe deeply and look at the trees and the birds or the stars. And I listen. I listen to the sounds of nature and the sounds of other people in the area. Perhaps they are a gardener mowing the grass or a pilot flying a jet or a lot of people driving their cars on the freeway in the distance. This reminds me of two things. First, the world is a bigger place than me. And second, I am not aloneLife is abundant and eternal and my challenges today are temporary and usually smaller than I think. There is abundance and beauty and love, if we pause to notice it. Other ideas for making a physical shift is to workout or do some breathing exercises or to meditate. I suggest you make it a daily mindset habit to clear your head to reset your perspective and regain your energy and excitement for your work. You're going to need it on your Fearless Climb to success!

3. Look for inspiration!

I have discovered that creativity, passion, and inspiration are transferable from one person to the next. When I read a book or watch a movie about someone who has accomplished something amazing, against all odds, I feel inspired and hopeful that I can accomplish some amazing things too. And, at the same time I am hearing the story, I am also observing how they succeeded. Was it their ability to use their God-given gift? Was it the partnerships they formed or the support they received? Or was it their resilience and perseverance? All of these are clues to success that can empower me in some way too. I also look for inspiration in people I meet in my life. When I am listening to a speaker on stage, I am hearing their message AND I am observing their delivery, their method of influencing the audience, the way they are telling their story, their body language, and even how they handle things that go wrong. Sometimes, I'm inspired by someone who tells their life story on a TV competition show or by another business owner who has a great marketing message. Clues for success are everywhere! You will get ideas about what you can do and you will recognize things you definitely don't want to do. Inspiration is all around you. Looking for it is a fun and engaging daily mindset habit for you to try.

4. Learn something new!

The secret to a vibrant life is...(drumroll please)...to learn something new every day! Growth is one of the definitions of life. We have control over our intellectual and emotional growth. We have access to new information like never before. There are courses and videos and books available at our fingertips. Invest in yourself every single day. Open your mind to new ideas. Consider how to incorporate them into your life. Inspiration is often the combination of two disparate ideas in a new way. Your next brilliant, money-making business idea could come from a YouTube video on growing orchids. You never know! And, please keep in mind, not all media is truthful, so don't focus on hateful messages. Don't take a controversial statement at face value. Look for information that expands your mind and your possibilities for making the world a better place. Make learning something new a daily mindset habit, then look back a year from now and be amazed at how much you have changed and grown. You are preparing yourself for the next awesome opportunity that comes your way. This is truly the most important habit of every successful business owner!

5. Listen to music!

Not everything has to be so serious! Have a little fun! Rock out. Dance in your chair. Feel the blues or jazz it up! Listening to music every day will brighten your mood, help you forget your worries, and put you into a productive, focused mode. This daily mindset habit is the easiest one to implement, so turn on your tunes and have a wonderful day!
